Rachmad Ramadhan or most of people call me with Rama, a blessed name that has given by my parents to me. My parents told me why did they give me that name, because they said that I was a “rahmat” or we can say a blessing in a Ramadhan’s month (on the Arabic calendar, which is a holy month for every moslems in the world) and it means a great name also a prayer for me.
I was born in Muara Enim, a small town in South Sumatera of Indonesia on 29th of December 1997. It means that now I’m 19 years old. I’m a last child and having three sisters, which are married and been already the mothers of their children. I’m feeling truly blessed by Allah because of having a great family who always support me in any positive ways I stepped, especially my both parents. They are always be there for me in any situations I am. Since I was a kid, I was always given so many moral lessons from my father and mother, such as basic religion, honesty and be respect to others. For example they told me that the honesty is the most priceless thing that everyone should have, I always commanded by my both parents to be honest in any situation and condition I am, they would never got angry to me for the mistakes I did as long as I’m being honest to them, especially to my own self. And many other priceless things they gave to me, so that it reflects who I am today.
I started my formal education in the same town I born. And since I was in the elementary school I’m one of the active students in class, I always be in the top ranked when I was there. But not only in the academic, I also be an active student in some competition of Marching Rules (PBB in indonesian), chosen to be the reader of the 1945 Constitution on the Independence Day, etc. After that I continued my study in the best Junior High School in that small town. Here, I was stepping further. I was trying to improve my self not only in the academic, so that I joined a music course. I learned how to play keyboard and guitar, also I deepened my vocal lesson there. Start from Junior High School, I was involved in Music Activities, such as being a keyboardist and vocalist, I ever won some Band Competitions in that town. I guessed “this is the beginning of my journey”.
The hardest decision is when I finished my Junior High School. I was realizing that to be lived in a small town which has full limitation of the facilities, It’s difficult condition for an ambition person like me to improve my self better. So that, I asked to my parents and family to move to the capital city of South Sumatera (Palembang). I got rejected by my mom at the first time I talked about it. Because my mom thought that I wasn’t ready yet for living alone in a big city. But I was ensuring them all, especially my mom that I’m already getting mature and ready to face my problems alone. And at last, my mom let me to continue my study in Palembang.
It was a big improvement in my life. I was living in a Lodging House alone there, in the capital city of South Sumatera. Also I got a lucky chance to continue my Senior High School in one of the most favorite school in Palembang. Day by day I spent so unforgettable in the Senior High School. There are a lot of improvements I did, beside being chosen in an excellent class in school. I joined the extracurriculars of Choir, Vocal Group, Band, PASKIBRA (Flag Raisers) and Volleyball. I competed in many kinds of competitions, like Mathematics Olympiade, Marching Rules Competitions, Choir & Singing Competitions, Band Competitions also Modelling Competitions. Ups and downs were absolutely I felt, also win and lose were being a common things.
But those all have made me today. In Senior High School I won some band competitions, be an ambassador of the network provider in Indonesia, won the singing competitions, be a Runner Up of Model In Action in Palembang, involved in a Fashion Week as one of the model, and also I ever be chosen by the government as one of the voulenteer in Islamic Solidarity Games (same with SEA GAMES, It is the olympiade of all moslem majority countries in the world who were competing in most of Sport Competitions), etc. My Senior High School life are being great experiences in my life journey and it would definitely be my own stocks in order to make my better future.
University life is what I’m living today, and it was a hard situation also when I had to decide for leaving my born island and for sure stepping away from my parents and family for the sake of reaching my dreams and holding the huge hopes for my parents.
I’m a French Literature Student in Faculty of Humanities at University of Padjadjaran, Bandung. As what I’m feeling right now is almost same as what I expected before I’m here. Slowly but sure, I’m much more developed now, the way towards my dreams little by little opened.
Last year, I got an unbelievable chance to represent Bandung in a Teenager Competition, named STAR TEEN that was aired on the commercial television which can be watched by everyone throughout Indonesia. I met a lot of great artists, wonderful persons and absolutely unpaidable experience that won’t be forgotten.
Right after that, I joined some of competitions also, such as Debate Competition and News Anchor. My team and I, got 1st place of Debate Competition who was talking about the Sustainable Development Goals and also I got 3rd place of The National French News Anchor Competition.
Latest news of me, I registered my self to be one of the finalist in the election of Mister Teen Indonesia. This competition was looking for a role model of Indonesian’s teenagers which able to represent as a Green Generation in order to cooperate with the WWF to realize the Sustainable Development Goals that has been aimed by The United Nations.
And me, I was chosen as The First Runner Up of Mister Teen Indonesia. It’s now being my new duty to get my self much better than I am before, to improve my self further than I expected. So that I could inspire many teenagers, especially the teenagers of my own beloved country, Indonesia.
